Not only is Myrtle Beach itself beautiful during this season, there is a lot going on around town as everyone celebrates the beginning of the holiday season. Festivals, hayrides and spooky ghost tours are events that we look forward to all year long! No need to be a local to be in the know about these fall activities, we’ve gathered a list that will tell you everything you need to know. So get your planner out, you will not want to miss out on these during your Myrtle Beach vacation!
Thompson Farms: Open Seasonally
Thompson Farms hosts a variety of fall events throughout September and October that are sure to be a hit with the family. Come out to the farm and enjoy Flashlight Fridays, where kids can enjoy a movie under the stars, s’mores, hot chocolate, hot cider, and more. Don’t forget your blankets and chairs! Thompson Farms also hosts Candy in the Corn: Trick or Treat Trail on Saturdays throughout the month of October. This event is a chance to let your kids do some early trick-or-treating while making their way through the Farm’s Kiddie Corn Maze. Kids may even run into some of their favorite characters like, Mickey or Minnie Mouse!
Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival: September 27-29th
While this event may not exactly be fall-themed, it is one that you definitely will want to mark on your calendar. The Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival is held at Huntington Beach State Park and is the perfect place to find a unique souvenir to take home. The festival features over 100 of artisans, craftsmen, local food vendors and live entertainment. As an added bonus to the festival, you will also get to experience the rich history of Atalaya and Huntington Beach State Park.
Harvest Home Festival: October 5th
Brookgreen Garden hosts their Annual Harvest Home Festival once again this year! This event is one of the largest family friendly events in the Myrtle Beach area. Visitors are sure to get in the fall spirit with a huge pumpkin patch, hayrides, animal meet and greets, and a scarecrow building contest. At the event you can also enjoy delicious food and drinks, live entertainment (kid friendly of course!) and all of Brookgreen Gardens will open to explore.
Myrtle Beach Oktoberfest: October 11-12th
Everyone’s favorite kick-off to the season, Oktoberfest! This local favorite has something for everyone: delicious variety of craft beers, festive food, kid’s activities, a pumpkin patch and more!
Howl-O-Scream: October 26th
The North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex will be hosting their annual Howl-O-Scream and you do not want to miss it! This event is perfect for kids of all ages with Scare Zones and Scare-Free Zones, hayrides, marshmallow roasting, trick-or-treating and much more. Don’t forget to wear your costume!
Brew at the Zoo: November 2nd
Brew at the Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens is a local favorite with tickets selling out every season! Enjoy tastings of over 30 regional and national craft beers while enjoying delicious food from local vendors. Brew at the Zoo will also be offering live music from The Paul Grimshaw Band, games, auctions and more!
Charleston Ghost Tours: Seasonal
If you’re feeling adventurous and extra spooky, take an afternoon to go to Charleston, South Carolina for their famous ghost tours. This old city is rich in history and is known for their haunting stories of ghosts, goblins and spirits that still walk the city streets today. Take a guide tour through Charleston’s spookiest cemeteries, prisons, asylums and buildings. This is the perfect event for thrill-seekers!
